DESCRIPTION
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock primarily composed of fine grains of quartz or feldspar. It is available in many colors. It has been used in construction since prehistoric times in building a wide variety of buildings and is also used to create ornamental structures. Because of its durability and the ease with which it can be worked, it is a popular building and paving material. During the mid-1800s to early 1900s it was an extremely popular building material, and many urban areas are characterized by their “brownstone” homes.
